Seeds of Hope

Seeds of Hope is a new and ongoing project stemming from the power and beauty of trees, their seeds, the fragility of our planet and the need / importance of trees within it.

This project, like most of Zoë’s work began from walking and discovering a cluster of Linden seeds (lime tree seeds) nestled in a hedge. Unknown to her at the time, this was to be the beginning of a new journey of discovery into seeds, trees and folklore meanings from around the world connected to these.

Linden trees are strongly connected with community and have been planted over the years around the world in a wide variety communities to bring people together. The tree is also associated with peace, love, community and truth.

Seeds of Hope wood cut prints were formed initially as a taster idea and they were sent out for free in exchange for a voluntary donation to a chosen charity as part of John Pedder’s “One of Many Postcard” project. The prints were so popular Zoë is now working on many different variations and versions and expanding this project.

Connecting the roots and breathing systems of our fragile planet will continue to be at the forefront of Zoë’s work.

Trees around the world all have stories to tell whether it be rituals, religions or traditions. They all form the background words for this project which hold a variety of meanings for many people in ecological and social contexts.
